At long last, here are our published narratives about the journey to the underworld, based on the ancient Egyptians' beliefs.

Playground Clean-up

These third graders decided to spend their recess cleaning up the playground.  Way to go!

Would you like to live in ancient Egypt?

Madison

            I would not like to live in ancient Egypt.  One reason is I would not like to shave my head.  Another reason is I would not like to swim naked.  A third reason is I would not like to get married at age 13 or 14.  In conclusion, I would never go to ancient Egypt ever.

Asa

            I would like to live in ancient Egypt.  One reason is because I would like to farm animals.  Another reason is because I’ve never seen a camel.  A third reason is I would like to eat sweets like bread and honey.  Furthermore I like the gods and the afterlife (only if I don’t get eaten by Ammit).  In conclusion I would like to live in ancient Egypt.

            I would not like to live in ancient Egypt.  One reason is because if you wanted to take a bath you have to take one in the Nile River.  That doesn’t sound bad but it is because there are crocodiles.  Yikes!  Another reason is because you don’t get to choose who you marry.  Crazy!  Right?  Furthermore, in ancient Egypt it was hot and kids’ only choice was to shave their heads.  In conclusion, I will never go to ancient Egypt.  Ever!

Ancient Egypt

We have just begun to study ancient Egypt.  We made maps out of salt dough to learn about Egypt's geography and we are researching by looking at artifacts on the British Museum website.

We've learned so much about different forces that it was time to become force detectives and determine which invisible force was responsible for a series of different phenomena.  Look closely and you can see that our suspects were:
