I'm like white blood cells. White blood cells are helpful to the body because they fight off infections. I'm like white blood cells because I fight off bullies and defend the helpless (the ones who can't defend themselves). So this is why I'm like a white blood cell in real life.

I'm like blood in many ways. Red blood cells are helpful because they deliver O2 and CO2. I am like that because I carry messages around. Also I'm like white blood cells because I stick up for my friends and white blood cells stick up to germs. And that's how I'm like blood.

I am like blood in many ways. I am like a white blood cell because I stick up for my friends. White blood cells fight infectins. Also I am like platelets because I solve problems. Platelets solve problems when they cover up the situation. All these things are ways that I am like blood.

I am like blood in many ways because white blood cells fight off germs and I stick up for my sister when people bully her. I am like plasma. It carries food. I am almost the same because I carry food from the kitchen to the classroom. I am like red blood cells because it delivers stuff to the body. I deliver stuff to my mom. That's how I am like blood.

I'm like blood in many ways. I'm like a white blood cell. I stick up for people and I'm like a red blood cell because I deliver groceries to my mom. And I'm also like a platelet. I solve problems. Platelets clog cuts. What is blood? Figure it out!

Reading Day!
As a special reward, we spent a lot of today reading. We read on our desks, under the tables, with lanterns, and in other special ways.
Cooking and some Presentation on Native American Tribes
As a class, we studied the Wampanoag from Massachusetts. Earlier this fall we harvested beans and corn from the school garden and then dried them. Today we took the dried beans and corn and cooked them with some squash and onions into a stew. We also tried to grind the corn into cornmeal but it was really difficult!
How to make sobaheg (without meat):
Put dried beans and corn in a pot with water and cook it for 2 hours. Then add chopped onion, garlic, butternut squash and cook until everything is soft. Add in some ground cornmeal to thicken it. Lastly, season with salt. Then eat!!!!!!!!! ;)
During the past few weeks in book groups, we've been studying a different Native American tribe: the Nez Perce, the Cheyenne, or the Pueblo. Today we presented our findings to the rest of the class.

Comic Books
We just finished a huge project that required a lot of reading, learning new vocabulary, taking notes, discussing, defending our opinion, and writing. Finally, we condensed our thoughts into some short comic books. Enjoy!
