Apple Mummies

We learned that the ancient Egyptians used salt to preserve their bodies after death.  Does salt really help prevent rot?  We experimented with an apple.  We put half of the apple in salt and half not in salt and then watched it over a period of two weeks.  We found that the apple that had been salted looked bright and colorful whereas the unsalted apple had turned brown.

MOVIES!!!

Check out these students' movies about the journey through the underworld.  They wrote the narrative, created the props, filmed, and edited on their own!  Pretty amazing for third graders.
