Here's an excerpt from our skit.  We also tested a can of regular soda, a can of diet soda, and a cheese sandwich. Can you predict whether those things would sink or float?

3rd Graders are Publishing their Historical Fiction

We've researched, written, revised, and now we are illustrating.  Soon we'll be ready to bind these books.

MONSTERS!!!

The first graders are in the final stages of publishing books about monsters.  First we read stories about monsters. We noticed that the monsters were always nice even if at first they seemed scary. So we created monster puppets, wrote and performed a puppet show, and then wrote our own stories starring our monsters.

Engineering in 3rd Grade: Designing Bridges

Wouldn't it be great to have a bridge that crosses the stream that is in the woods behind the school?  I got my third graders on the case.  They are doing some research to find out how to make a bridge strong.  Next week they'll use this information in order to design a prototype made out of balsa wood.
