Grinding Corn
We read Tapenum's Day about a Wampanoag boy in the year 1621. In that book, Tapenum goes out hunting and takes with him some food to snack on. The food he has is dried, ground corn. We decided to try to grind up some corn with a mortar and pestle. It was hard work.

Publishing Poems
We have been learning a lot about similes, alliteration, and onomatopoeia and using these techniques to write poems. Sometimes we work alone and sometimes a partner helps us to revise our poems. Our walls are becoming full of poems that students are publishing.
