As a special reward, we spent a lot of today reading. We read on our desks, under the tables, with lanterns, and in other special ways.

Cooking and some Presentation on Native American Tribes
As a class, we studied the Wampanoag from Massachusetts. Earlier this fall we harvested beans and corn from the school garden and then dried them. Today we took the dried beans and corn and cooked them with some squash and onions into a stew. We also tried to grind the corn into cornmeal but it was really difficult!
How to make sobaheg (without meat):
Put dried beans and corn in a pot with water and cook it for 2 hours. Then add chopped onion, garlic, butternut squash and cook until everything is soft. Add in some ground cornmeal to thicken it. Lastly, season with salt. Then eat!!!!!!!!! ;)
During the past few weeks in book groups, we've been studying a different Native American tribe: the Nez Perce, the Cheyenne, or the Pueblo. Today we presented our findings to the rest of the class.

Comic Books
We just finished a huge project that required a lot of reading, learning new vocabulary, taking notes, discussing, defending our opinion, and writing. Finally, we condensed our thoughts into some short comic books. Enjoy!
